Professional Career
Janna Hilferty has been working in tech for the past 8 years. She is currently a DevOps engineer, and in the past has been Site Performance and Reliability expert, working with Enterprise clients who face issues with server load, site performance, scalability, and more.
As a former technical writer and senior support tech at WP Engine, she also contributed heavily to their Support Garage and internal knowledge base, mentored and trained new techs, published performance blog posts, worked with Product to develop and market new features, and still takes public speaking opportunities when she can find them.
Being familiar with Linux, Bash, Nginx, Apache, and many more server-level topics, Janna works to better educate the Linux and WordPress community on best practices and techniques.
Hobbies
In her spare time, Janna also sings with Chorus Austin, enjoys paint and sip classes, hikes with her husband Richard and dog Seamus, and maintains a cigar blog. She enjoys exploring Austin and traveling the world. She and Richard both enjoy cooking and trying new recipes for each other.
